LASO REWARD
MYTHIC achievement
Complete the full campaign with LASO enabled to unlock MYTHIC: a Gold trophy, 50 Gamerscore and a Steam achievement.
Before starting the campaign
A Halo: Campaign Evolved LASO run uses Legendary difficulty and 17 specific Skulls that remain active throughout the playthrough. Collect the set, select the LASO preset from the Campaign menu and check the lobby before launching.
- Use the unlocked preset instead of recreating it one Skull at a time.
- Turn off every optional Difficulty Modifier for the entire Fireteam.
- Choose solo or co-op with Iron in mind: solo death restarts the level; co-op death returns to the last checkpoint.
- Open the relevant mission guide and agree where to save ammunition or protect a vehicle.
The route notes below are player recommendations, not extra MYTHIC requirements.
How the 17 Skulls work together
Treat the LASO preset as five connected problems rather than 17 separate switches.
| Pressure | Skulls involved | What changes | Practical response |
|---|---|---|---|
| Death and recovery | Iron, Black Eye, Malfunction | Death loses progress, shields require a melee hit, and respawning can remove HUD information. | Reserve a safe melee target and call out who needs it. |
| Stronger enemies | Thunderstorm, Mythic, That’s Just… Wrong | Enemies gain rank, health and awareness. | Pull small groups back to a doorway or long sightline. |
| Limited information | Fog, Eye Patch, Speed Limit | Motion Tracker, aim assistance and sprint are disabled. | Clear corners deliberately and keep teammates in sight. |
| Ammunition | Famine, Johnny Ammo Seed | Dropped weapons carry half ammo; reloading discards the old magazine’s remaining rounds. | Use controlled bursts and avoid early reloads. |
| Chain explosions | Boom, Grunt Funeral, Pop | Larger blasts combine with Grunt and Flood explosions. | Trigger chains from distance, never beside the first target. |
Temperamental makes friendly kills turn allies hostile faster. Grunt Birthday Party and IWHBYD mainly change celebrations and dialogue.
Solo and co-op planning
Iron restarts the level after a solo death and resets a co-op Fireteam to its last checkpoint.
The following Fireteam roles are player recommendations:
- Choose one route caller. With no Motion Tracker, one player calls the next doorway, vehicle or objective.
- Announce shield melees. Let the player with the lowest shields take the safest Black Eye opportunity.
- Split weapon roles. Keep precision ammunition with the long-range player and close-range stopping power near the doors.
- Call explosive targets. Boom, Grunt Funeral and Pop can catch a teammate inside the enlarged blast.
Mission-by-mission risk plan
Use this list before opening each detailed walkthrough. It highlights where LASO effects meet the mission route, not a mandatory tactic.
| Mission | Main LASO risk | Plan before launching |
|---|---|---|
| The Pillar of Autumn | Tight corridors magnify explosions and risky Black Eye melees. | Fight from doors; never melee into grouped Grunts. |
| Halo | Fog removes warning across open rescue valleys. | Preserve the Warthog and scan high ground before each site. |
| The Truth and Reconciliation | The sniper approach drains precision ammo before the cruiser. | Reserve shots for Elites and turrets; resupply at the lift. |
| The Silent Cartographer | Optional island fights precede tight underground Hunter rooms. | Keep the Warthog, skip patrols and carry an explosive answer. |
| Assault on the Control Room | Long interiors, bridges and vehicles strain ammunition. | Preserve the Scorpion and save ranged ammo for bridges. |
| 343 Guilty Spark | Fog worsens visibility; Boom enlarges Flood explosions. | Follow landmarks and trigger Pop from a distance. |
| The Library | Continuous Flood pressure drains Famine ammunition. | Hold doors, use distant Pop chains and check ammo at lifts. |
| Two Betrayals | Interiors, snowfields and generators demand different tools. | Carry shield and Flood answers; preserve vehicles outdoors. |
| Keyes | Cramped rooms amplify chain explosions. | Let factions fight and move when the objective opens. |
| The Maw | Boom threatens the reactor room; Iron punishes a late crash. | Use safe vent angles and a stable Warthog line. |
| Boarding Action | Turrets, Hunters and waves punish center-room pushes. | Work from doors and save equipment for hard rooms. |
| The Most Dangerous Game | Snipers and compact wave rooms punish poor awareness. | Check high ground and hold each room entrance. |
| Heavy Burden | Corridors, escort, gondola and Seraph combat change quickly. | Restock at transitions and protect the current objective. |
If MYTHIC does not unlock
Before repeating the campaign, check the official conditions:
- Confirm the run used the LASO preset unlocked by the 17 required Skulls.
- Confirm the full campaign kept the preset active.
- Check every Fireteam member: one optional Difficulty Modifier blocks MYTHIC.
- Check the platform reward: 50 Xbox Gamerscore, a Steam achievement or a PlayStation Gold trophy.
If the reward is still missing, record the platform, profile, final mission and lobby settings before contacting Halo Support. The official article gives no universal checkpoint-recovery method, so do not delete a save for an unverified workaround.
LASO FAQ
Does “All Skulls On” mean all 42 Skulls?
No. The official LASO preset uses 17 specific Skulls, not all 42.
Can I add other Difficulty Modifiers?
Optional Difficulty Modifiers prevent MYTHIC. Leave them off for the entire Fireteam.
Is LASO available in solo and co-op?
Yes. Iron restarts the level in solo and returns a co-op Fireteam to its last checkpoint.
Does Campaign Remix unlock MYTHIC?
The option appears in both menus, but the achievement wording does not explicitly confirm Remix as an alternative. Use the standard campaign for the safest MYTHIC attempt.
Which Skull interactions matter most?
Start with Iron, Black Eye, Famine and Johnny Ammo Seed: they control death, shields and ammo. Then learn the Boom, Grunt Funeral and Pop explosion chain.
