The finale returns to the Pillar of Autumn for a reactor objective and the campaign’s timed Warthog escape. The mission tests close-quarters survival before switching to driving consistency.

The Maw mission walkthrough

1. 01

   Return to the bridge

   Back aboard the Pillar of Autumn, follow the service corridors toward the bridge while Flood and Covenant fight through the wreck. Cortana opens the way and redirects you once the bridge plan fails. Pick up close-range ammunition whenever you see it because the route to engineering is crowded and there is little room to dodge.

2. 02

   Destroy the reactor

   In engineering, reach the upper control panels and expose the reactor vents one at a time. Fire an explosive weapon into each open vent, then move before the Sentinels and Flood pin you down. Four successful detonations start the destruction sequence and open the route to the vehicle bay.

3. 03

   Finish the Warthog run

   Take the Warthog and follow the painted lane through the ship. The timer is generous enough if you stay upright, so line up ramps early and do not cut blind corners. The scheduled pickup fails near the end; keep driving to the final platform, leave the Warthog and board the Longsword.

Completion tips

Clean Lap fails only if the game forces you out of the vehicle. Take a stable driving line instead of cutting every corner.

• Before engineering, trade early weapons for a Sentinel Beam and Shotgun when they appear. Fuel Rod Grunts can also supply a Fuel Rod Gun.
• Open one reactor vent from the upper controls, wait for it to glow and fire a rocket or grenade into it before moving to the next.
• On the Warthog run, stay left, make the U-turn at the bottom of the first large slope and use the middle ramp for the long jump.
