The island assault starts with a beach landing, opens into a vehicle loop and ends below ground at the map room. Its roads and side paths allow several approaches.

The Silent Cartographer mission walkthrough

1. 01

   Secure the beach

   The beach landing is loud but straightforward. Push off the sand, clear the turret positions and leave enough room for the second Pelican to bring in the Warthog. Once the shoreline is secure, take the vehicle clockwise around the island. Let the gunner thin out each group before you stop to deal with anything the rocks are protecting.

2. 02

   Disable the security system

   The first map-room entrance is locked, so do not waste time trying every door. Continue around the island until the marines call out the security facility, go inside and work down to the override panel. The rooms repeat, but the painted floor arrows and the direction of the ramps will bring you back outside.

3. 03

   Reach the map room and extract

   Return to the original facility and descend past the now-open door. The lower levels are tighter, so leave the Warthog outside and keep a shield-breaking weapon for the Elites on the ramps. Activate the Silent Cartographer at the bottom, then climb back to the surface and clear the landing area for extraction.

Completion tips

This mission supports vehicle, stealth-adjacent and direct-combat routes, but Map Quest removes every offensive action.

• After the beach fight, keep the Warthog near the shallow water on the right, follow the cliff and turn left up the hill to bypass several optional patrols.
• The crashed Pelican below the security facility carries a Rocket Launcher. Pick it up before returning through the Hunter encounters.
• Do not rely on the original game’s one-shot Magnum trick against Hunters. Use explosives and the room’s pillars to separate the pair, or spend the portable Overshield to bypass a fight you do not need.
